OpenType Layout Features can be used to extend the functionality of fonts and create advanced typographic features and add additional capabilities such as ligatures, alternate glyphs, two-dimensional glyph positioning, specific functionality for different scripts and languages and much much more.

When a font is opened, FontCreator will process all supported features in the font and split them up into two separate parts. The first part, the glyph substitutions will be decompiled into a script that can be edited using the build-in script editor. The second part, the glyph positioning will be processed to make them visually editable in the Opentype Designer.

Note: Advanced Editing Features are only available in the Professional Edition of FontCreator
