You can search for a character in the selected font by its character name as defined in the Unicode Character Database that is maintained by the Unicode Consortium. Select Find on the Edit menu to open the Find Character window.
To search for a specific (part of a) name enter the text in the text box. Find Next leads you to the character that contains the entered part of the name.
To search by Unicode Character codepoint, select the Go to tab and enter the codepoint.
