We've just released MainType version 4. With this version we've taken font management to a new level. The redesigned core of the software contains a database driven font engine, that significantly increases performance and allows you to easily maintain a large font collection; we've successfully tested it with over 150,000 fonts. The user interface has been modernized with a new docking mechanism, an enhanced font list, and a side-by-side comparison feature within the font information panel. To make things even better, MainType no longer requires elevation. There are several other additions (an easy backup-restore utility for example) and enhancements that we know you'll enjoy. So what are you waiting for?
Upcoming Features
MainType 4 currently does not support fonts located on a network drive. We strive to implement support for this with MainType 4.1 that is planned for Q4 2011. For now you will need to copy fonts located on a network drive to a local drive.
We are also working on auto-activation plug-ins for Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop, so expect them soon as well.
