Contour direction indicators are arrow markers drawn along each closed path showing the winding direction. They make reversed paths visible at a glance — a common cause of glyphs that render with their fill and counter swapped.

Convention

In TrueType, outer paths wind clockwise and inner paths (the holes) wind counter-clockwise. A path with the wrong winding direction renders as a hole where there should be fill, or fill where there should be a hole.

Toggling the Display

The indicators are a display-only overlay; turning them on or off does not change the outline. Toggle them from the View menu.
