The Helper Layer Properties dialog sets a helper layer's name, opacity, and color. Open it through the Properties entry in the right-click context menu of a helper-layer row in the Masters and Layers panel.

Name — a free-form label shown in the panel and used to identify the helper layer.

Opacity — the alpha used when the helper layer is drawn in the glyph editor, between 0% (invisible) and 100% (fully opaque).

Color — used both for the row's color swatch in the panel and for tinting the helper layer's outline in the glyph editor.
